C. ONSITE CONTROL <br /> Robert Mart Kevin McKibben has been designated to <br /> coordinate access control and security onsite. A safe perimeter has <br /> been established at 10 feet around boring in progress <br /> No unauthorized person should be within this exclusion area. <br /> D. HAZARD EVALUATION <br /> The following substance (s) or hazards are own or suspected to be on <br /> site. <br /> Substances involved Concentrations <br /> Gasoline unknown <br /> Waste Oil (?) unknown <br /> The primary hazards of each are identified as follows: <br /> 1 . Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids <br /> with strong aromatic petroleum hydrocarbon-like odors. They are <br /> flammable and have low solubility in water. Exposure to these <br /> materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild <br /> eye, nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect <br /> on the central nervous system. Symptoms of exposure at these <br /> concentrations include headache, nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, and <br /> loss of coordination. Certain components of gasoline (BTE&X etc. ) <br /> are known or suspected carcinogens. <br /> The following additional hazards are expected on site: typical work <br /> related to facility. Noise heavy a ui ement operation, etc. <br /> E. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> Based on evaluation of potential hazards, the following levels of <br /> personal protection have been designated for the applicable work <br /> areas or task: <br /> Location Job Function Levels of Protection <br /> Exclusion zone Excavation A B C D Other <br /> Reduction zone Preserve samples & A B C D Other <br /> log borings <br /> 2 <br />
