I
u Treadwell&Rolb
MEMORANDUM
TO: Vicki McCartney, REHS
FROM: David Dixon, P.G.
DATE: 1 April 2005
PROJECT: Former County Motor Pool Site
130 North Hunter Street, Stockton
SUBJECT: Description of Proposed Dewatering Procedures for Caisson Construction
This memorandum presents a description of proposed dewatering procedures for caisson
construction for new construction at 130 North Hunter Street in Stockton. It is our understanding
that the new construction involves constructing 36-inch wide caissons between 20 and 524eet
deep. Figure 1 shows the proposed caisson locations and depths. The figure also shows the area
where contaminated groundwater could be encountered.
Groundwater extracted from caissons in the potentially contaminated area is planned to be
contained in tanks onsite pending analytical characterization, and either released to the sanitary
sewer in conformance with the conditions of a permit from the Stockton Municipal Utility
Department, or sent off-site to an appropriate wastewater recycler. Soil cuttings from the
potentially contaminated area will be sent to an appropriate landfill. The soil and groundwater
investigations have not identified contamination in other parts of the site, but if odors are noted
in the soil or groundwater from other caissons, than they shall be evaluated for contamination.
Please contact me with any questions or comments.
Treadwell & Rollo, Inc. Environmental & Geotechnical Consultants
555 Montgomery Street, Suite 1300, San Francisco, CA 94111
Telephone (415) 955-9040 Facsimile (415) 955-9041
