FW : Encroachment Permit Page 1 of 2
Vicki McCartney [EH]
From : David Dixon [dgdixon@treadwellrollo.com]
Sent: Thursday, November 11 , 2004 5: 07 PM
To: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Cc: Dustyne Sutherland ; jay. coffey@ci. stockton .ca. us
Subject: Changes to workplan
Vicki,
This e-mail describes changes planned to the work described in our 4 November 2004 soil and
groundwater investigation workplan for the Former County Motor Pool Site at 130 North Hunter Street
in Stockton. The changes are being made to address recommendations in your 9 November 2004
conditional approval letter for our Workplan. We propose the following changes:
a Soil borings SB-4 and SB-5 will be advanced to 60 feet below ground surface (bgs). The limited
clearance direct push rig proposed for use should be able to achieve this depth.
. Two groundwater samples will be collected from borings SB-4 and SB-5 ; one at first encountered
groundwater at approximately 30-feet bgs, and the second at approximately 55-feet bgs.
. Soil samples will be collected in borings SB-4 and SB-5 for laboratory analyses. Continuous soil
cores will be collected from these borings for logging purposes, and from 20 to 60 feet bgs soil
samples will be retained every five feet or at lithologic changes for possible laboratory analyses.
. Soil borings SB-4 and SB-5 will be moved approximately 10-feet further from the source area
than shown in Figure 2 of the Workplan.
. In order to add all of the analytes recommended for groundwater, EPA method 8260B will be
used to analyze for TPH as gasoline, BTEX, fuel oxygenates, 1,2-DCA, EDB, and ethanol and
methanol. Additionally, EPA Method 8015M will be used to TPH as kerosene.
. Soil analyses will include EPA Method 8015M for TPH as kerosene and TPH as gasoline, and
BTEX compounds will be analyses by EPA Method 8021 . EPA Method 6010B will be used for
soil samples collected in the test pits.
o The borings SB- 1 , SB-2 and SB-3 will be completed at another date after results are known from
borings SB-4 and SB-5, and after additional utility clearances determine if the locations proposed
in the workplan can be moved further into the street.
Please call with any questions,
David G.
