Personnel will wear orange <br /> safety vests when working along active areas and roadways and <br /> will use appropriate traffic safety control measures (i.e., cones, <br /> signs) <br /> Buried pipelines and utilities Call Underground Services Alert (USA) at 800.227.2600. <br /> Contract a private underground utility locator service. Locate <br /> and mark buried tanks, utilities and pipelines prior to drilling. <br /> Hand auger the first 5 feet if the exact location of buried pipeline <br /> is unknown. Follow setback requirements specified by utility <br /> companies. <br /> Excavation Be aware of identified buried utilities. Maintain constant eye <br /> contact with excavator or back hoe operator during operation <br /> (watch excavator swing). Identify and avoid pinch points, do <br /> not walk behind excavator. Maintain a 5 feet clearance from the <br /> edge of the excavation while walking. Observe all barricades. <br /> Report any surface cracks outside the limits of the excavation to <br /> the excavator operator. <br /> Overhead electrical wires Be aware of overhead electrical wires and height of rig tower (if <br /> applicable). Drill rig to remain at least 15 feet from overhead <br /> powerlines of 50kV or less. <br /> Build-up of explosive Provide A, B, C fire extinguisher in the event a spark from <br /> gases/fire vehicle creates fire hazard; especially during the dry season . No <br /> spark sources such as lighters, matches, or unapproved <br /> equipment can be used in the work area. Intrinsically safe <br /> equipment must be used. <br /> Flying debris/objects Wear protective eye wear (safety glasses) steel toed boots and <br /> hardhat <br /> Noise > 85 dBA Personnel will wear hearing protection in the vicinity of the drill <br /> rig if conversations have to be shouted at a distance of 3 feet. <br /> Back Injury Use proper lifting techniques.
