1
The soil boring drilled inside the garage and adjacent to the former dispenser island (G-1) was
advance to a total depth of 35 feet bgs, and the two soil borings drilled through the city sidewalk
(G-2 and G-3) were both advanced to a total depth of 30 feet bgs Groundwater was
encountered in all three borings at depths ranging from 23 5 to 26 feet bgs
From all three soil borings, discrete, undisturbed soil samples were collected at five foot intervals
to the total depths of the borings From the two sod borings in the city sidewalk (G-2 and G-3),
the first soil samples were collected at 15 feet bgs A field geologist logged all soil samples for
hydrogeologic and lithologic characteristics according to the Unified Soil Classification System
and screened each sample for organic vapors using a photoionization detector (PID)
' From each soil boring, a groundwater-grab sample was collected From G-1, the groundwater
sample was collected using a one-inch diameter polyvinyl chloride (pvc) temporary well
' consisting of 10 feet well screen, spanning from 25 to 35 feet bgs From G-2 and G-3, the
groundwater samples were collected using a Hydropunch All three groundwater samples were
removed from the boreholes using a decontaminated stainless steel bailer Following the
groundwater-grab sampling, each of the soil borings was abandoned using a neat cement grout,
placed to the bottom of the boring using a tremae pipe
A total of 11 soil samples and all three of the groundwater-grab samples were labeled and
' transported in an iced cooler with chain-of-custody documentation to Kiff Analytical, LLC (Kiff), a
state of California certified hazardous waste testing laboratory (Certification #2236) Kiff
analyzed all of the soil and groundwater-grab samples for TPH-as-diesel, TPH-as-motor oil, and
' TPH-as-kerosene by modified EPA Method 8015, and for TPH-as-gasoline, STEX, MTBE, di-
isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME) and
tertiary butanol (TBA) by EPA Method 8260B The soil samples collected at 10 and 30 feet bgs
from G-1 were also analyzed for total lead by EPA Method 6010
1
7
