ARCADIS BBL Mr. Brian Taylor
July 27, 2007
estimates of the potential vapor source strength. As such, this evaluation will tend to
over predict risks and hazards.
Conclusions
Using the approach described in this evaluation, the estimated excess lifetime cancer
risks for onsite workers in the office building at the Chevron Bulk Fuel Terminal No.
1001621 do not exceed the established acceptable risk range, from 1 x 10$to 1 x 10'
", as defined by Cal-EPA, USEPA and other regulatory agencies. In addition, the
estimated hazard index for workers in the onsite building is also below an acceptable
level, of 1.0,for noncancer effects. Moreover, none of the maximum COPC
concentrations detected in groundwater monitoring wells beneath the onsite office
building exceed Cal-EPA ESLs for the evaluation of potential vapor intrusion
concerns. These results indicate that potential health risks for onsite occupants of the
office building exposed to potential vapors migrating from chemicals collected in
groundwater beneath the building are below levels of concern.
If you have any questions or comments regarding the contents of this report, please
contact Michele Amaral by telephone at 707.776.0865 extension 18 or by e-mail at
michele.amaral@arcadis-us.com, or David Evans by telephone at 916.857.0124 ext.
