October 1, 2004
NOA Project Number: LE03-034
2) Emergency Treatment. In the event that an injury occurs to any or all of the
monitoring well installation team, they will be transported to the nearest hospital that
provides emergency room services (Dameron Hospital, 420 W. Acacia St., Stockton,
209-461-3196)
2.0 DRILLING DETAILS
Neil O. Anderson &Associates, Inc.,will provide all necessary equipment and materials for drilling
and installing the ground-water monitoring wells to the proposed design depth. The drilling and
logging procedures are described next.
2.1 Drilling Method
The ground-water monitoring wells will be excavated using a Mobile B53 truck mounted hollow
stem auger drilling rig equipped with 6 1/2 inch outside diameter auger. The drilling equipment will
be operated by Neil O. Anderson&Associates, Inc. of the Lodi, CA office. The subsurface strata
will be sampled with an SPT sampler between every 5 to 10 feet. The soil cuttings brought to the
surface will be examined and disposed on-site by spreading on the surface around the well casing.
2.2 Logging Methods
A geologist or engineer will log the subsurface soil and ground water conditions encountered.at each
monitoring well location. The subsurface strata will be satripled with an SPT sampler between every
5 to.10 feet. The soil materials encountered will be logged consistent with the Unified Soils
Classification System. Representative soil samples will be taken and placed into sealed containers for
further analysis. The depth to first ground water will be measured and recorded when it has
stabilized.
After completion of the wells, ground-water depths and elevations will be measured relative to the
well casing reference notch elevation, described below in Section 5.0.
3.0 MONITORING WELL DESIGN
We recommend that the ground-water monitoring wells be constructed according to the design and
materials described next. After approval of the work plan from the Board, proper permits and
approval of the workplan will be required from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department prior to beginning work. The San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Department's document titled Well Standards was reviewed for County
requirements.
4
