' 2525 Hutchins Road Paget
Work Plan-Soil Boring Installation
' GPE Project No. 503
September 7,2005
' samples and a groundwater sample will be collected. The proposed location is shown
on the attached site map.
' 2. A groundwater sample will be tested for the possible presence of chlorinated
hydrocarbons.
' 3. A report will be prepared and submitted which describes this work, its findings and
implications.
1 2.1 Soil Boring Installation
' The Power-Probe® soil boring will be drilled using 2-inch outside diameter Power-
Probe® drilling equipment owned and operated by Resonant Sonic International (RSI) of
Woodland (C-57 License 9802334). The boring will be advanced to a total depth of about
' 70 feet below grade, or such other depth conditions require. The Power-Probe® is a
truck mounted drilling system that uses direct push methodology to collect soil and
groundwater samples. Four foot long steel rods are pushed or hammered into the ground
' using a hydraulic ram or the hydraulically actuated hammer mounted on the ram. Soil
samples are collected using a 4-foot long by 2-inch inside diameter drive sampler lined
' with a plastic sample sleeve. In the event that refusal is encountered, the rig has the
capability two switching to 4.5-inch diameter solid-stem augers.
' A detailed log will be made of the boring. The information to be noted includes such data
as sample depths, horizons of detectable contamination (detected by field methods), soil
classification utilizing the Unified Soil Classification System and sediment description
' (color, texture, composition, hardness, moisture content, and post-depositional changes
that have occurred in the sediments).
' Upon completion of the boring, a groundwater sample will be obtained by lowering a
disposable plastic bailer down through the drill stem and retrieving a volume of water
adequate to fill the sample containers. The sample will be carefully transferred to 40m]
' preserved VOA vials.
Upon reaching total depth a final soil and groundwater sample will be collected. After
' collecting the final sample, the boring will be filled to grade through a tremie pipe with
neat cement.
Any soil cuttings that may be generated will be stored in a drum on the premises until their
proper disposition can be arranged.
2937 Veneman Ave.,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
