(GZA) after conducting public participation prior to case closure, and to remove
three vapor extraction wells onsite. The Report section of the document stated that there were
no comments received during the 45-day comment period by GZA concerning the proposed
site closure. The Workplan section of the document proposes the decommissioning of soil
vapor wells VW-1A, VW-1 B, and VW-2 by over-drilling with a 10-inch auger and backfilling the
boring to surface with neat cement. VW-1A and VW-1 B (nested well) will be checked at 5-foot
intervals for level, to assure that the auger is centered in the 10-inch diameter boring.
The Report is accepted. Since the Regional Board did not receive comments during the open
comment period and since your site is on track for closure, you may proceed with the wells
decommissioning. The Workplan approval is contingent upon meeting the well abandonment
requirements for San Joaquin County and receiving a boring permit from the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD). Please give the SJCEHD and myself at
least three working days notice prior to initiation of fieldwork and provide a well destruction
report within 30 days of completion of the.fieldwork.
