24 October 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 01-0877
Page 3 of 7
{ Water Basin (Basin 5-22). The closest surface water feature is the Stockton Deep Water Channel
located approximately 2,000 feet southwest of the site.
2.3. GROUND WATER DEPTH AND FLOW DIRECTION
Based on data obtained from a nearby site(706 North El Dorado Street)the depth to ground water
at the site is approximately20 to 25 feetbelow surface grade(bsg).The prevailing ground water flow
direction in the vicinity of the site is estimated to be toward the northeast. However,flow direction
may be both locally and seasonably variable.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
The analytical results from the UST removal soil samples indicate that an unauthorized release of
petroleum hydrocarbon compounds from the USTs has occurred at the site. AGE proposes to
advance four soil borings to collect soil and in-situ grab ground water samples to assess the vertical
extent of fuel components in the subsurface. The preliminary site assessment will consist of the
following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work preparations;
• Soil sample collection and analysis;
• Ground water sample collection and analysis; and
• Report preparation.
Each of these tasks is described below.
3.1. PRE-FIELD WORK PREPARATIONS
A health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health
Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
Prior to mobilization, each boring location will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained
through Underground Service Alert.Drilling pemuts will be obtained from the PHS-EHD,who also
will be notified at least 72 hours prior to initiation of field work to schedule grouting inspections.
Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc.
