CONCLUSIONS
There are petroleum hydrocarbons remaining in the soil and groundwater The direction of groundwater
flow and the magnitude of hydraulic gradient are generally consistent with the previous event
Groundwater elevations have increased approximately 1 29 feet since December 2004
TPHg and/or BTEX constituents were detected at or above laboratory reported detection limits in
groundwater samples collected from MW1, MW2, MW3, MW5, MW6, MW7, VWI, and VW2
MTBE was present in samples from MW2, MW4, MW5, MW6, MW7, MW9, MW10, and CW TBA
was detected from MW2 and MW7 1,2-DCA was detected in the sample from MW8 None of the
groundwater samples collected contained detectable concentrations of ETBE, TAME, DIPE, or EDB
Dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in groundwater from MW1, MW4 through MW10, and
CW generally remain consistent with the results from previous sampling events Dissolved petroleum
hydrocarbon concentrations in groundwater from MW2 and MW3 have increased during the first quarter
2005 The increase in petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in MW2 and MW3 is likely a direct result
from the removal of the remediation system
The vapor extraction system was offline for the first quarter 2005 and was removed by the original
vendor without notice during the fourth quarter 2004 ATC is currently ordering another vapor
extraction system for the site
RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results of the First Quarter 2005 monitoring event, we recommend the following
• Conduct the Second Quarter 2005 groundwater monitoring and sampling of MW I through
MW10, VW1, VW2, and CW and analyze samples for TPHg and BTEX by EPA methods 8015B
and 8021B, respectively, and MTBE, ETBE, TBA, TAME, and DIPE by EPA method 8260B
+ Startup of the replacement Vapor Extraction System
s lenviro1625961quart1yl1gr-2005 doe 7 ATC ASSOCIATES INC
