GERAGHTY & MILLER. INC. 3
The soil generated during the drilling activities will be.stockpiled onsite for proper
disposal by Boston Chicken, Inc. Four discrete samples will be collected from the stockpiled
soil and submitted to the.laboratory. The four discrete samples will be composited in the
laboratory into one sample for analysis. The.water used during the drilling activities will be
stored onsite in 55-gallon drums pending disposal by Boston Chicken, Inc.
TASK 3: GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
Each monitor well will be allowed to stabilize for a minimum of 48 hours prior to
development and sampling. Water-level measurements will be collected from each new
monitor well prior to development. The wells will be developed by purging a minimum of
three casing volumes of water prior to sampling. The purged water will be stored in covered
55-gallon drums onsite prior to disposal by Boston Chicken,Inc. All equipment that will enter
the well will be washed in a solution of phosphate-free detergent and water, and triple-rinsed in
potable water. Following well purging, groundwater samples will be collected using a new
polyethylene bailer for each well. Groundwater, samples for laboratory analysis will be
collected in appropriate USEPA-approved containers, placed on ice, and transported to a State-
certified laboratory, along with appropriate chain-of-custody documentation.
TASK 4: LABORATORY ANALYSIS
The soil and water samples collected during the field activities will be analyzed for-total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (USEPA Method.8015, modified) and.volatile organic
compounds (USEPA Method 8240). The project budget estimate below assumes that a total of
three soil samples (one from each boring and the composite sample of the drill cuttings) and
four water samples (one each from the proposed wells, a trip blank, and one from the water
generated during drilling)will be analyzed.
TASK 5: REPORT PREPARATION
Following completion of field activities and receipt of all laboratory data, Geraghty &
Miller will prepare a letter report of the results of the assessment activities. This report will
include a description of the soil-sampling activities, a site plan showing the soil-sampling
locations, and a summary of the results. The report will be limited to the data collected during
the field activities.
Project No. RCO291.001
