The <br /> work was conducted in response to a letter dated November 11, 2003, from the San Joaquin County i <br /> Environmental Health Board (SJCEHD), which requested a workplan for destroying existing on site <br /> wells (Attachment A). The workplan was approved and a drilling permit received on March 1, 2004. It <br /> is our understanding that a "no further action required" letter will now be issued to ARCO by SJCEHD. <br /> Well destruction activities were over seen by SJCEHD. A copy of the permit is included in Attachment <br /> A. The following pages present the site background and well destruction methods. <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> The site is a former gasoline station and AM/PM mini-mart located at 501 West Kettleman Lane in <br /> Lodi, California (Figures 1 and 2). A multi-tenant commercial/retail center is located south of south <br /> Kettleman Lane and a grocery store is located east of South Hutchins Street. Houses also bound the site <br /> to the north and an office building to the west. As part of divestment activities, all USTs,dispensers, and <br /> associated piping were removed from the site. The piping and dispensers were removed in August 2002, <br /> .and the USTs were excavated and removed in October 2002. The property is partially paved with areas <br /> of exposed soil where excavations and demolitions occurred. <br /> WELL DESTRUCTION METHODS <br /> On April 5 through 9, 2004 and April 12, 2004, under the direction of a URS geologist, six groundwater <br /> monitoring wells (MW-IA, MW-2, MW-2A, MW-2B, MW-3; and MW-9), one groundwater extraction <br /> well (E-1), and 8 soil vapor extraction wells (V-1 through V-8) were properly destroyed.
