This <br /> letter has been prepared in response to the letter dated November 11, 2003, from the San Joaquin <br /> County Environmental Health Board (SJCEHD), which requests a workplan for destroying existing on <br /> site wells (Attachment A). A health and safety plan has been prepared and will be available on site <br /> during field activities. <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> The site is a farmer gasoline station and AM/1'M mini-mart located at 501 West Kettleman Lane in <br /> Lodi, California (Figures 1 and 2). A multi-tenant commercial/retail center is located south of West <br /> Kettleman Lane and a grocery store is located east of South Hutchins Street. Houses also bound the site <br /> to the north and an office building to the west. As part.of divestment activities, all USTs, dispensers, <br /> and associated piping were removed from the site. The piping and dispensers were removed in August <br /> 2002, and the USTs were excavated and removed in October 2002. The property is partially paved with <br /> areas of exposed soil where excavations and demolitions occurred. <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> This workplan includes discussion of permitting, well destruction methods, and report preparation. <br /> Permitting <br /> The SJCEHD requires permits be obtained prior to the destruction of wells.
