U
knK L E I N F E L D E R
March 19, 1993
File: 24-220152-D00
Ms. Linda Turkette
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Monitoring Well Destruction
Underground Storage Tank Site T2/T3
Site Code: 1614
500 West Hospital Road
San Joaquin County General Hospital
French Camp, California
Dear Ms. Turkette:
Per our discussion of March 14, 1993, 1 am sending this letter to modify the monitoring well
destruction and impacted soil removal sections of Kleinfelder's Site Assessment/Remedial
Work Plan Amendment (March 5, 1993) for the subject site. Attached are the well destruction
permit applications and a check for the associated fees. Copies of the "as builts" and a
discussion of the well destruction will be included in the site's final closure report.
Contingent upon the analytical results from the March 25, 1993, Kleinfelder will destroy each
of the monitoring wells by filling the 2-inch PVC casing with bentonite pellets (instead of
overdrilling and backgrouting). The total depth of each well will be tagged prior to
destruction. The casing will be removed to at least a depth of approximately 28 feet below
ground surface during the removal of the impacted soil at the site.
With the exception of soil that is excavated to allow access to impacted soil (e.g., sloping),
soil excavated from the site will be stockpiled pending remediation. Backfill material will be
imported to the site to supplement the soil removed for.access.
Sincerely,
KL LDER, INC.
h
F
Dana W.
