CENTRAL VALLEY REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD
INSPECTION REPORT
17 May 2000
DISCHARGER: Manuel Miranda Dairy
LOCATION & COUNTY: 13944 S. Brennan Road, Escalon, San Joaquin County
CONTACT(S): Manuel Miranda, Owner, and Fernando Sequeira, Operator
INSPECTION DATE: 16 May 2000
INSPECTED BY: Louis F. Pratt
ACCOMPANIED BY: Terry W. Bechtel
OBSERVATIONS AND COMMENTS:
This inspection was made at the request of Mr. Miranda. The inspection revealed a newly completed tail
water recovery system consisting of a concrete sump, a submersible pump and piping that will return
water to the wastewater retention pond. The system was installed in the southwest corner of the field, or
in other terms, north of the house, next to S. Brennan Road.
Mr. Miranda stated that he plans to rip and recompact the roadway between the irrigation line on the east
end of the field and Avena Drain. The purpose of these actions is to remove old gopher holes that have
the potential of causing discharges of wastewater into Avena Drain.
Staff stated that there would be a request for a Report of Waste Discharge and that a filing fee would be
required to update the Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs) and to bring the dairy into compliance
with the WDRs.
SUMMARY:
The proposed tail water recovery system has been installed. Further improvements have been planned to
help prevent discharges of wastewater into Avena Drain. g4e
LOUISF. PRATT
Land and Water Resource Specialist
A roved:
