Brennan Road, Escalon, San Joaquin County <br /> CONTACT(S): Manuel Miranda, Cm-ner, and Fernando Sequeira, Operator <br /> INSPECTION DATE: 2 March 2000 <br /> INSPECTED BY: Louis F. Pratt <br /> ACCOMPANIED BY: Terry W. Bechtel <br /> OBSERVATIONS AND COMMENTS: <br /> This inspection was conducted at the request of the fir. Miranda and Mr. Sequeira to determine <br /> compliance with Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs) for the purpose of obtaining a Grade A Milk <br /> Marketing Permit. The inspection revealed no violations; however, the following matters were discussed <br /> in regard to operating the dairy in compliance with the WDRs on a continuing basis: <br /> Tail water recovery system <br /> Mr. Miranda presented a bill of materials for construction of a sump and return pump to prevent <br /> wastewater from discharging into Avena Drain a; Brennan Road. <br /> Reduction of wastewater <br /> It would be desirable to have enough storage capacity for the entire winter. Mr. Sequeira stated that he <br /> would hand wash the cows instead of using the sprinkler wash pen. <br /> Elimination of roof runoff <br /> Roof gutters were recommended for the freestall barn and other structures to divert clean storm water <br /> away from the waste pond. Mr. Miranda stated that roof gutters are planned for the future. <br /> Reasonable loading of the cropland <br /> Mr. Sequeira stated that all manure solids would be exported and that only wastewater would be applied <br /> to cropland. He also stated that he would maintain a milking herd size of 200 to 250. <br /> Approved: <br />
