r ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP, INC.
rARDENT
July 12, 2017
Project No. 100834003
Ms. Kasey Foley
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
1868 HazeIton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Subject: Revised Proposed Scope of Work to
Abandon Groundwater Monitoring Well
1627 Army Court
Stockton, California 95206
Dear Ms. Foley:
As per our telephone conversation yesterday, this letter presents my proposed revised scope of
work to abandon the groundwater monitoring well located at 1627 Army Court in the city of
Stockton, California (site; Figure 1). Our client has recently purchased the site for continued
commercial use. During completion of a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), Ardent
discovered a document suggesting that two groundwater monitoring wells had been installed on
the site in the 1980s. One well was visually present during our site visit, while the other was not
observed and was thought to have possibly been paved over. Ardent recommended that the
wells be abandoned in accordance with current regulatory guidelines.
On June 19, 2017, Ardent submitted a work plan to the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department (SJCEHD) to complete a geophysical survey to locate the missing well and
to abandon the wells by over-drilling and destroying the casing to the bottom of the borehole.
The work plan/permit was approved on July 5, 2017.
On July 7, 2017, Ardent retained Safe-2-Core of San Jose, California, to complete the
geophysical survey using ground penetrating radar equipment over a large area that reportedly
contained the missing well (Figure 2). No anomalies were encountered, and therefore, it is
assumed that this well was previously abandoned. Ardent retained Cascade Drilling, L.P. of
Richmond, California, a State 0-57 licensed drilling company to abandon the remaining well.
1827 Capital Street, Suite 103 • Corona, CA 92880 • (951) 736-5334 • www.ardentenv.com
