The paint can label indicates the paint contains copper. The <br />facility owner stated this waste is handled as hazardous waste. All hazardous waste containers shall be closed at all <br />times except when adding or removing waste. Owner closed the container during the inspection. Violation corrected. <br />This is a repeat violation, Class II. <br />601 <br />CCR 66262.34(a) Stored hazardous waste on site longer than 90 days without a permit or authorization. <br />The following hazardous waste containers were not labeled with an accumulation start date so may have been stored <br />on site for >90 days: <br />1. One box of paint containers was labeled "hazardous waste" only. <br />2. One box of paint containers, next to (1) was not labeled. The owner stated that these containers are handled as <br />hazardous waste. <br />3. One 55 -gallon drum partially full of rags / pads with paint or resin was labeled as "drained used oil filters". <br />4. One 55 -gallon drum of hazardous waste solids was only missing the accumulation start date. <br />5. One 55 -gallon drum of hazardous waste liquid was only missing the accumulation start date. <br />6. Nine one cubic yard totes of sand- blast waste adjacent to the old sand -blast area were not labeled or label could <br />not be observed. The owner stated that sand -blast operations ceased at the site in 2013. <br />Items 1 through 5 were labeled completely during the inspection and owner added an accumulation start date of May <br />1, 2015. <br />The following hazardous waste containers were labeled with an accumulation start date of February 2014, greater than <br />90 days ago: <br />7. Five one cubic yard totes of sand- blast waste adjacent to the old sand -blast area. The owner stated that <br />sand -blast operations ceased at the site in 2013. <br />Facilities who store more than 6000 kg of hazardous waste at one time must dispose or recycle the waste within 90 <br />days.
