Box 15002
Sacramento, CA 95851
PROPOSED SETTLING POND RELOCATION, TEICHERT AGGREGATES VERNALIS
PLANT, SAN JOA Q UIN CO UNTY
I have reviewed the Report of Waste Discharge (RWD) for the subject facility, which we
received on 24 April 2002. I understand that the current wash water settling ponds are filling up
with fines to the design level, and that Teichert Aggregates wants to create new settling ponds as
excavation progresses across the planned excavation area.
Based on my review of RWD and Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs) Order No. 94-296, it
appears that such use of the site was envisioned when the previous RWD was submitted.
Therefore, the proposed plan for constructing new settling ponds can be regulated under the
existing WDRs as long as the excavation area does not expand beyond the boundaries described
in the WDRs.
However, in order to ensure that our records are accurate,by 30 July 2002,please submit a site
map that depicts each pond with historical operation dates (for former ponds) and anticipated
operation dates (for current and future ponds). The map must be accompanied by a water balance
for the current system demonstrating adequate storage and disposal capacity in accordance with
the requirements of the WDRs.
If you have any questions, please call me at(916) 255-3116.
k- TIMOTHY R.
