LAMBRIA
WORK PLAN
Technical Rationale for Proposed Scope of Work
• The February 2000 site investigation identified MTBE in groundwater beneath the
site, and its lateral extent has not been delineated.
• The City of Lodi Well No. 12 is located in the southwest corner of the property.
Two monitoring wells (MW-7 and MW-8) are proposed between the dispenser islands
and the municipal well (Figure 2).
• A former Chevron Station is located upgradient of the subject site. One monitoring
well (MW-6) is proposed in West Kettleman Lane to address the potential of MTBE
migration from the former Chevron (Figure 2).
Work Tasks
i
Permits: An appropriate permit for drilling will be obtained from SJCPHS/EHD for all wells,
and an encroachment permit will be obtained from the California Department of
I
Transportation for well MW-6.
Health and Safety Plan: A site-specific Health and Safety Plan will be prepared for field
3
work.
Utility Clearance: Proposed drilling locations will be-marked and their locations cleared
through Underground Service Alert (USA) prior to drilling:
Site Investigation: Three exploratory soil borings (MW-6 through MW-8) are proposed as
shown on Figure 2. The borings will be drilled using hollow-stem auger equipment and will be
converted to groundwater monitoring wells. The scope of work described.in this work plan
will be performed under the supervision of a registered geologist.
A Cambria geologist will supervise the drilling and describe encountered soils using the Unified
Soil Classification System and Munsell Soil Color Charts. Soil samples will be collected at
five-foot intervals for lithologic description, possible chemical analysis, and organic vapor
screening with a photo-ionization detector (PID). PID readings will be recorded on the
boring log for each boring.
1346 3
