i
Mr. Tracy Sizemore
Mr. Thomas Bauhs
July 13, 2005
Page 2
DTSC received Earth Tech's electronic mail correspondence dated July 12, 2005. In
this correspondence, Earth Tech agreed with the comments outlined in HERD's
June 27, 2005 memorandum. Based upon this response from Earth Tech, DTSC
approves of the Soil Vapor Sampling Work Plan. This approval is for the installation of
soil vapor sampling equipment and collection and analyses of soil vapor samples
related to the completion of the site Human Health Risk Assessment. Please note that
approval from the Regional Water Quality Control Board must be received prior to
startup of the Soil Vapor Extraction system at the L&M OU site.
During the teleconference call on June 29, 2005 it was agreed that once Earth Tech
submitted their response to HERD's February 2, 2005 memorandum (a memorandum
that synopsized HERD's September 9, 2004 HRA comment memorandum and added a
Data Gaps table) and DTSC reviews the response, a meeting will be held to discuss the
status of the Human Health Risk Assessment (HHRA). This meeting will be organized
by DTSC for early or mid-August, 2005. Once the HHRA meeting takes place a
response letter will provided by DTSC.
If you have any questions on any of the information provided above, please contact me
at (916) 255-3744 or by email at ilile(a)dtsc.ca.gov.
Sincerely, a6
Jerry?e
e
Project Manager
Enclosures
cc: Mr. Ray Kaminsky
Environmental Chemist
Earth Tech
695 River Oaks Parkway
San Jose, California 95134
