concentration of TPH or an area of probable LNAPL. The readings taken form Apartment 171
are inconclusive with respect to migration of VOCs, since soil and I-NAPL data are not available
in the immediate area and/or beneath this apartment.
Therefore,GSE continues to be concerned regarding the possible exposure of DVA residents to
VOCs.
It continues to be vital that key tasks need to be performed to address possible vapors in the
DVA. At a minimum, these include the following.
• Finalization of the HHRA inclusive of additional field sampling in areas of potential
exposure;
• If a pathway between soil contamination/LNAPL is identified, additional indoor air
sampling be performed;
• Installation of vapor monitoring points around the apartment complex and collection of
vapor samples before and during the Apartment SVE operation;and
• Operation of the Apartment SVE system.
It is our understanding,based on the 13 May 2005 email from Mr.Tracy Sizemore,that Earth
Tech has initiated continuation of HHRA efforts and is preparing an HHRA work plan to
address DISC comments. GSE wants to reiterate that finalization of an HIIRA and subsequent
tasks,as required,will enable resolution of the potential exposure of DVA resident exposure to
site contaminants.
If you have any questions,please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Gold to nvironmental
ylor,R
RG.,C.Hg.
Principal Hydrogeologist
cc: enclosed list
Los Angeles,San Diego and Houston Golden State Environmental
I'tk: Kc'iur 1)1 S[. 11 emu,nul Sr,w._'00 i()i'0 If
