At this time, the Regional Board and the RDA do not have an agreement for oversight
costs. Although the Regional Board understands that cost recovery for Regional Board staff
oversight costs was determined in the settlement agreements, the Regional Board staff was not
involved with the settlement discussions and regardless of the settlement agreements, still
considers both the Morton and Unocal OUs as responsible parties. Therefore, until the Regional
Board staff receives written authorization from the.RDA, invoices for oversight costs will
continue to be sent to the parties that entered into the cost recovery agreement.
If you have any questions, please contact me at(916) 464-4719 or dlewis@waterboards.ca.gov.
DEVRA LEWIS
Environmental Scientist
cc: See Page 2
California Environmental Protection Agency
Cd Recycled Paper
