<br /> samples containing metals must be tested for leaching potential using the waste extraction test with
<br /> deionized water as the buffer. The Unocal OU must also perform adequate air monitoring and dust
<br /> control during the excavation activities. Any excavated soil to be used for backfill in the excavation
<br /> must be sampled as described above.
<br /> Regional Board staff's 21 May 2004 letter requested the investigation report that details the excavation
<br /> activities by 10 September 2004. Based on the revised proposed work, the investigation report is now
<br /> due by 17 December 2004. Following this investigation report, the Unocal OU will need to prepare a
<br /> work plan to collect samples to determine the vertical extent of petroleum pollution in soil and
