Three of the
monitoring wells are either missing or damaged. Six of the 17 wells are associated with the area
owned/operated by the Discharger. The groundwater monitoring program for these six wells and
any wells installed subsequent to the issuance of this MRP, shall follow the schedule below.
Monitoring wells with free phase petroleum product or visible sheen shall be monitored for
product thickness and depth to water only. Sample collection and analysis shall follow standard
EPA protocol.
EPA Analytical Max.Detection Sampling
Constituents Method Limit ' Frequency'
(FtB) Fre uenc
Depth to Groundwater --- --- Quarterly
Volatile Organic Compounds 8021B or 8260B 0.5 Quarterly
Semivolatile Organic Compounds 8270 various' Quarterly
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline 8015M 50 Quarterly
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel(Extractable) 8015M4 50 Quarterly
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Motor Oil(Extractable) 8015W 50 Quarterly
Benzene 8020 or 8260B 0.5 Quarterly
Toluene 8020 or 8260B 0.5 Quarterly
Ethylbenzene 8020 or 8260B 0.5 Quarterly
Xylene 8020 or 8260B 0.5 Quarterly
MTBE6 Dissolved Metals 6000/7000 various' Quarterly
8260B 0.5 Quarterly
TBA6 8260B 5 Quarterly
6 8260B 0.5 Quarterly
DE6 8260B 0.5 Quarterly
6 8260B 0.5 Quarterly
Ethanol 8260B 50 Quarterly
Methanol6 8260B 100 Quarterly
For nondetectable results.
Groundwater level measurements for all South Shore Parcel monitoring wells shall be collected within an eight-
hour period. Groundwater sampling activities for all wells requiring sampling shall be collected within five days.
If the OUs are collecting water levels and performing sampling separately, the activities must be coordinated to
meet these requirements.
' Maximum detection limits must meet or be lower than the applicable water quality objective, unless this is not
achievable by an EPA or State approved laboratory method. See Table 2 for a list of applicable water quality
objectives.
° Without silica gel cleanup.
5 Dissolved metals to be analyzed include antimony, arsenic, beryllium, cadmi
um,chromium,copper,mercury,
nickel,lead, selenium,silver,thallium,and zinc.
6 Fuel oxygenates,including methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE),methanol,ethanol,tertiary butyl alcohol(TBA),
tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME),di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),and ethyl tertiary butyl ether(ETBE),shall be
analyzed in all monitoring wells during first and third quarter monitoring events. If results are nondetectable for
fuel oxygenates in all wells during both monitoring events,no finther monitoring for oxygenates is required. If a
fuel oxygenate is detected in either monitoring event,it shall be added to the quarterly monitoring program for
the well in which it was detected.
