Kettleman
Lodi, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) has reviewed the "Quarterly Groundwater
Monitoring Report" dated December 2, 1991, and a letter dated
December 9, 1991 prepared by Aegis Environmental, Inc. for the
above site.
The letter states Aegis plans to discontinue analysis for EDB,
EDC, and lead and plans to change the sampling frequency for TPH
as gasoline and BTEX from quarterly to annually. PHS/EHD concurs
with the plan to discontinue sampling for EDC and lead. The
detection limits used when testing for EDB ranged from .0005 to
. 01 parts per million (ppm) . The drinking water standard for EDB
is .00002 ppm. A detection limit of at least drinking water
standards should be used to test for EDB in the next sampling
event. Based on those results we will consider discontinuance of
sampling for EDB. As stated in a letter to Shell dated
December 27, 1991 from PHS/EHD Arco's monitoring well #12 m
evidenced benzene and TPH as gasoline in July 1991. Therefore
Shell's monitoring wells one and three should continue to be 1---
sampled quarterly. Shell's monitoring well two is upgradient so
PHS/EHD concurs with annual sampling of this well. Q(
If you have any questions contact Margaret Lagorio, Senior.
