Initially, six samples were collected at depths of 10 5 to 14 0 fbg in the tank
excavation Five of these samples (TS-1 through TS-6) contained detectable concentrations
of TPPH, benzene, or MTBE These areas were over-excavated and resampled at depths of
13 0 to 15 0 fbg (TS-7 through TS-11) No TPPH or benzene was detected at these depths
MTBE was only detected in sample TS-10 at a concentration of 0 395 ppm at a depth of
13 fbg
Dispenser Areas Initially, four samples were collected at a depth of 2 0 fbg beneath the
former dispensers Three of these samples (DS-1, DS-2, and DS-3) contained detectable
concentrations of TPPH, benzene, or MTBE These areas were over-excavated and
resampled at depths ranging from 5 5 to 12 5 fbg (DS-5 through DS-7) At these depths,
TPPH concentrations ranged from ND to 9,950 ppm, benzene concentrations ranged from
ND to 0 962 ppm, and MTBE concentrations ranged from 1 91 to 60 4 ppm
Product Piping Initially, nine samples were collected at depths ranging from 1 5 to 3 0 fbg
beneath the former product lines Five of these samples (PL-1, PL-3, PL-4, PL-8 and PL-9)
contained detectable concentrations of TPPH, benzene, or MTBE These areas were over-
excavated and resampled at depths ranging from 3 0 to 8 0 fbg (PL-10 through PL-14)
TPPH was not detected at these depths Benzene was detected in sample PL-10 at a
concentration of 0 0105 ppm at a depth of 3 5 fbg MTBE was detected in samples PL-l I
and PL-10 at concentrations of 0 106 and 2 93 ppm, respectively
Vapor Recovery Piping Initially, two samples were collected at a depth of 2 0 fbg beneath
the former vapor recovery lines Both of these samples (VR-1 and VR-2) contained
detectable concentrations of TPPH or MTBE Benzene was ND These areas were over-
excavated and resampled at a depth of 4 5 fbg (VR-3 and VR-4) No TPPH, BTEX, or
MTBE was detected at this depth
•
241-1346 4
