CAMBRIA
Cambria, Equiva, RWQCB, and SJCPHSIEHD personnel attended a meeting at the
SJCPHS/EHD's office on June 19, 2001 to discuss San Joaquin County sites During this
meeting, a deadline of June 29, 2001 was established for submittal of an investigation report
summarizing the activities at the subject site Cambria submitted this report on June 25, 2001
ANTICIPATED THIRD QUARTER 2001 ACTIVITIES
As discussed during our meeting and recommended to our June 25, 2001
Site Investigation Report, Cambria will submit a work plan proposing soil vapor
extraction in the vicinity of the northwestern dispenser area to remove the petroleum
hydrocarbons and methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE)from soil in this area
Blaine will coordinate the sampling event with the former Chevron station located at 301 West
Kettleman Lane according to the existing sampling schedule, gauge and sample the wells, and
tabulate the data There will be a slight change in the groundwater analyses, as discussed below
Cambria will prepare a groundwater monitoring report
. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Cambria recommends double-purging all monitoring wells prior to sampling We will also
request that Blaine obtain the hydrochloric acid-preserved water sample vials from the laboratory
to ensure that there is no methanol present in the preservative We recommend analyzing
samples from all three wells, an equipment blank, and a trip blank for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, MTBE, methanol, and
ethanol by EPA Method 8260B Because they have not been detected, Cambria recommends
discontinuing analyses for ethyl tertiary butyl ether, tertiary butanol, di-isopropyl ether, tertiary
amyl methyl ether, 1,2-DCA, and EDB We will implement these changes to the quarterly
protocol beginning with the third quarter 2001 sampling event, as discussed on the telephone
with Harlin Knoll of the SJCPHSIEHD on July 19, 2001
1346 2
