r <br /> Uriah Inc . <br /> An Environmental Services Company <br /> August 26, 1992 <br /> Mr. Michael Infurna <br /> Registered Environmental Health Specialist <br /> San Joaquin County Department of Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> 445 North San Joaquin Street <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> RE: Fuel Hydrocarbon Contamination of Soil and Groundwater <br /> ' at 305 South Hutchins Avenue, Lodi , CA <br /> Dear Mr, Infurna: <br /> This document has been prepared subsequent to your request for <br /> a second interim report concerning work in progress at the above <br /> referenced site and for additional information regarding the <br /> proposed pilot soil vapor extraction system (SVE) . <br /> ' SITE OVERVIEW <br /> The site is located on the southwestern corner of South Hutchins <br /> ' Street and West Lodi Avenue, Lodi (San Joaquin County) , CA in <br /> a commercial-residential area. The property was occupied by <br /> a retail gasoline service station as early as 1943 . These <br /> ' operations continued until 1979 when the Texaco Oil Company <br /> removed three ( 3 ) underground gasoline storage tanks located <br /> on the west side of the property. Above ground service station <br /> structures were demolished in 1980 , and a restaurant was <br /> constructed on the site in 1981 . <br /> A limited environmental assessment of the site was performed <br /> ' by Uriah, Inc. during January-March of 1991 . Hydrocarbon <br /> contamination was found in soil samples acquired from soil boring <br /> S-3— the boring advanced closest to the area formerly occupied <br /> by the underground fuel storage tanks (Figure 2 ) .
