Box 2197
Sepulveda, CA 91343
Environmental Assessment and Remediation at 305 South
Hutchins Street, Lodi, CA
Dear Mr. Deutsch:
As you are aware, a drilling rig equipped with 811-outside
diameter, continuous-flight, hollow-stem augers was recently
used to advance three soil borings at the referenced site.
The locations of the borings (designated #s-1 , #s-2, and #S-3 )
were advanced at those locations shown on Figure #1 , dicated
inattached,
n order to enhance previously acquired data which in
the presence of fuel hydrocarbon contaminants within. subsurface
soils.
Only soils encountered within Baring 03 contained odors
consistent with those of fuel hydrocarbons. These odors were
moderate between 14 . 5 ' and 17. 0 ' below ground surface (bgs) p
5
and strong between 19. 0 ' and 20. . As the capillary .fringe
was encountered, S-3 was terminated at 20. 5 ' to avoid introducing
contaminants into the groundwater.
A two dimensional, representation of blows per foot (BPF) for
each of the borings advanced are presented in Figure #2. BpF
are indicative of the relative density/consistency of the soil.
As indicated, the relative density/consistency of soils
encountered at the South Hutchins Street site appear to increase
as one proceeds north from Baring #S-3 towards Borings #S-1
and #S-2.
A profile of the soils in the area of the borings is presented
in Figure #3 . The sandy clay layer ( CL) encountered in Borings
#S-1 and #S-2 would likely serve as a barrier to contaminant
migration to the north.
In order to acquire the additional information about the vertical
1 .
464 Lindbergh Avenue 0 Livermore C allfornia 941;1;n 0
47 c;) 455__Aaj
