In light of the time and money that has already been
spent, the FDIC would prefer not to spend any additional time or money on
site maps, unless they are absolutely necessary
2 Historical Photos and Gas Chromatograms
As you requested, enclosed please find copes of historical photographs for the
site that the FDIC has been able to obtain, as well as the gas chromatograms
that were prepared by various contract laboratories with dates and sample
location indicated on each page
3 Information About MTBE
Enclosed are copies of various articles and materials we previously acquired
concerning MTBE We trust that these articles will be sufficient for your
• purposes At our meeting, we will be prepared to discuss and will provide
you additional information regarding the history of MTBE and its interaction
in soils and ground water at the site and at other relevant locations
4 Data Concerning the North-East Corner of the Sime
As you know, considerable soil data was obtained for the north-east corner of
the site from GB-IO/VW-6 According to Rick Walls of Geocon, the fact that
benzene was detected in vapor samples after the vapor extraction rate was
increased in VW-( suggests only that there is a very limited amount of
benzene present in the soil It is Mr Walls' view that if there were significant
amounts of benzene in the soil, benzene would have been detected in vapor
samples at much lower vapor extraction rates
Mr Walls also believes that a sufficient number of soil borings exists at the
site to estimate the extent of the plume, as was done in the PAR. He noted
that, in his experience, the number of borings at the Togo's site significantly
exceeds the number that is usually required at other sites Also, Geocon
advises that it would be very difficult and expensive to drill additional borings
because of the presence of numerous power and utility lines in this area and
the City of Lodi's reluctance, due to traffic concerns, to issue a permit to drill
any borings in the street In any event, it does not appear that any information
DOWNEY BRAND SEYMOUR a ROHWER
