(Ground Zero) on your
behalf. In this work plan Ground Zero proposes to advance six borings to approximately 40 feet
below surface grade (bsg),and one boring to approximately 10 feet bsg to further delineate the
lateral extent of groundwater contamination. EHD comments on this work plan as follows:
• EHD recommends that the two borings proposed to be advanced to approximately forty
feet bsg along the northeastern side of the property near the fence, instead be advanced to
approximately fifty feet bsg and converted into monitoring wells with screened intervals
from 30 to 50 feet bsg to assess the down-gradient groundwater contamination.
• EHD concurs with Ground Zero's proposal to advance one boring near the former fuel
dispenser to a total depth of approximately 10 feet bsg.
• EHD concurs with Ground Zero's proposal to advance two borings to approximately 40
feet bsg, one to be located east of the truck scales, and one to be located south of the truck
scales.
• EHD does not approve, at this time, the proposed advancement of two borings along the
southwestern side of the property, one boring to be located west and one boring to be located
southwest of the small building at this site. However, should field observations demonstrate
the presence of contamination during the advancement of the two borings east and south of
the truck scales, the two western borings can be reconsidered.
• EHD concurs with Ground Zero's proposal to collect soil samples at five-foot intervals for
lithological identification and field screening for contamination; and based on field
observations, at least two soil samples from each boring will be submitted to a State of
California-certified laboratory for the analyses of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPH-G)by Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) SW-846 method 8015B; and
benzene,toluene,ethyl benzene, and total xylenes(BTEX)by EPA SW-846 method 8021.
