The best method to ensure this has been achieved is to
ensure that the water added to hydrate the bentonite is still present on top of the
seal after twenty (20) minutes. PHS-EHD has noted that inadequately hydrated
bentonite seals have allowed the approved thin grout mixture to pass through the
filter pack and enter the casing.
i
PHS-EHD can understand some of the problems in dealing with multiple county
agencies and their various regulations and it is in this spirit that we offer these
comments. It is moped that by presenting to you the above concerns, your future
dealings with PHS-EHD will be lbenefcial to you and the clients you represent.
Please contact Michael Infurna,at (209) 468-3454 if you have any questions or
wish to discuss our procedures.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental H alth Division
4
i
Michael J.
