i
Wilbur Ellis / H & H Construction page 2
212 Industrial Blvd., Stockton.
In addition to the laboratory analyses your consultant has proposed, PHS-EHD
will select the soil samples to be analyzed by EPA Method 8260 for all of the
seven oxygenates noted in the enclosed policy. After the monitoring wells are
installed and developed, the groundwater samples are to be analyzed for all of
the oxygenates by 8260.
Only neat cement(Type II-Portland), or cement with 3%-5% NSF labeled
bentonite by weight, or an approved bentonite slurry can be used to grout
monitoring wells. The ratio of potable water to cement is 'regulated. A ninety-
four pound (94#) bag of cement to five gallons minimum and ten gallons
maximum is the only acceptable ratio. Cement grout should be tremie-pipe
installed from the bentonite up to the surface.
An addendum is required that addresses the above noted concerns. PHS-EHD
hereby modifies the drilling date from June 30, 1998 to July 10, 1998. The
results of the "Phase One" should be submitted to PHS-EHD by August 10,
1998. PHS-EHD will review the report and comment on the proposed locations
of the monitoring wells. The wells should be placed before August 31, 1998 and
the final report of findings is due before October 1, 1998.
Piease continue to submit your correspondence to Michael Infurna, Senior
REHS, and you may call him at (209) 468-3454 should you have any questions
or wish to discuss the site.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division ,
Michael J.
