Al Total Organic Vapors i
A direct reading photoionixation detectionconcentrationseterNU P1 101
or equivalent) will be used to monitor the
ganic
vapors in theedork area. Measurements will be taken at least once •
every 15 minutes during surface and subsurface sample collection.
The meter will be calibrated for benzene. Total organic vapor
measurements will be used to determine the appropriate levels of
respiratory protection and conditions for site evacuation. Total
organic vapor concentrations in the workers breathing zone in excess
of 10 ppm above background will trigger an upgrade from level d to
level C protection. Breathing zone concentrations in excess of 250
ppm will stop the work on-site until the work zone concentrations are
reduced to below 250 ppm.
EMPLOYEE TRAINING AND INFORMATION
All personnel working have completed the certified 40 hour Osha hazardous
waste training course, and have been trained in the following objectives:
a Workers are aware of potential hazards they
may encounter.
o Knowledge and skills necessary to perform the
work with minimal risk to works health and safety.
o Familiarization with the Site Safety plan and
site- specific requirements.
The training plan for this site encompasses: •
o Potential physical and chemical health hazards.
o Respiratory protection, rationale, use, maintenance
and fit testing.
o Protective clothing, use and maintenance.
o Entry, exit and decontamination procedures.
o Documentation and record keeping procedures.
4
