Two soil borings will be advanced to a minimum depth of approximately twenty-five feet
below surface grade, and soil samples will be collected at five foot intervals from surface
grade to total depth for lithologic evaluation and chemical analysis; grab groundwater
samples will be collected for chemical analysis if groundwater is encountered in the
boreholes. Borings will be advanced adjacent to the south end of the center dispenser
island associated with the recreational vehicle refueling islands.
2. OGI proposes to collect soil samples in EnCore samples by Environmental Protection
Agency Method 5035 for analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs); instead, collect
soil samples in brass tubes for analysis of VOCs.
3. Soil and groundwater samples will be sent to a laboratory certified by the State of
California and analyzed for diesel range organics; benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and
total xylenes (BTEX); methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETRE),
di-isopropyl ether (DIPS), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME), and tertiary butyl alcohol
(TBA).
4. Soil will be screened visually and with a photo-ionization detector in the field for the
presence of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination. Additional soil samples may be
collected for analysis based on these findings.
