r.
Equipment Specifications
Ekholm Property f,,= F :
1702 Jackson Street 17 17
Escalon, California
• Carbon - The carbon canisters chosen were Westates Model VSC 200 units. Based on
a flow rate of 100 scfrn and anticipated concentrations taken from the RESNA pilot
test results, calculations were done using a breakthrough time of 8 days. This gave a
carbon usage of 20.96 pounds in 8 days time. Assuming a 20% working bed capacity
for the 200 lb units, 40 pounds of carbon are available to adsorb VOCs. These
calculations are attached.
The air samples taken during our brief pilot test showed that the airstream would be
virtually free of contamination with no vapor treatment. Although this may be the
case, maximum influent concentrations were calculated that would justify the use
of small carbon units (200 lb). This was done to be conservative, with the agreement
that if sample results once the system is running are low enough, the system will be
modified and the carbon units removed. These calculations are also attached.
• Blower - The blower was chosen based on RESNA pilot test results. They measured
approximately 30 inches of water at 100 scfrn. We chose a blower curve that could
handle approximately 58 inches of water at 100 scfm (to account for pressure loss
across other equipment) and approximately 38 inches of water at 150 scfrn.
• Other system components - A relief valve with a maximum setting of 4.5 psig
(blower manufacturer recommendation) was ordered to protect the blower and
other system components. A filter was also ordered from the blower manufacturer
to protect the blower from dust and other particles in the air stream.
• Gauges - Vacuum gauges should be able to read 0-60 inches of water. Air velocity
gauges are to be installed which read in feet per minute. This will be converted to
standard cubic feet per minute for reporting purposes. Sample ports are installed at
each well head and at the system influent and effluent. Air samples can be taken
from these ports, as well as vacuum, flow and temperature measurements with
portable instruments.
