Consistent groundwater data over time is essential for confirming no adverse
impact to groundwater, a requirement for closure. As the expected duration of the soil remediation at
the site is brief, the additional data generated from the site wells over this time period is essential to
ultimately substantiate a site closure.
PHSIEHD has issued permit #4259 for the installation of the two additional vapor extraction wells. The
installation of these wells specifically to remediate target areas appears to be warranted.
Although the soil samples from the installation of the vapor wells show nondetect results, the data
gathered at the time of the tank removals and from the initial vapor extraction testing indicate some
contamination in the area of the farmer tank pit as well. These wells should also be utilized in the
remediation efforts until such a time the data indicates otherwise.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this letter in more detail, please contact Linda
Turkatte, Senior REHS at (209) 468-3441.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
1
yf
Linda Turkatte, Senior REHS Diane M.
