Based on the
results of the solubility testing performed on the impacted soil to be left behind and the lack of volatile
organic compounds in the impacted soil, the TRC concluded that risk to groundwater is limited and that no
further investigative or remedial action for the diesel tank pit is warranted.
The levels of contaminants observed in the former waste oil tank pit area have also been determined not to
pose a risk to groundwater. Therefore, no further investigative or remedial action at this tank pit is
warranted.
As the fult extent of the soil and groundwater contaminant plumes have been physically defined at the site,
a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) must be compiled and submitted to PHS/EHD for review.
The CAP must show the contaminant concentrations and distribution in the soil and groundwater and must
evatuate at least two remedial alternatives to abate the contamination to restore and/or protect the
groundwater to original background levels. Based on the evaluation, the remedial alternative that has been
determined to be the most efficient and cost effective for the site should be chosen.
Please submit a comprehensive CAP to PHS/EHD by June 30, 1994_
If you have any questions or comments concerning this letter, please contact me at (209) 468-3441.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
4w-k—7u-r, — -
Linda Turkatte, Senior REHS Dian .
