s Working To Restore Nature <br /> 1710 Main Street <br /> Escalon, CA 95320 <br /> Phone (209) 838-3507 <br /> FAX (209) 838-3509 <br /> April 12, 1994 <br /> Ms Linda Turkatte <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P.O Box 2009 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> i <br /> Subject Summary Report, Excavation of Former Diesel and Waste Oil Tank Pits, January <br /> 1994, Ekholm Property, 1702 Jackson, Escalon, California <br /> r Dear Ms Turkatte <br /> This correspondence is submitted on behalf of Mrs Margaret Ekholm to summarize excavation <br /> activities at the above referenced site (Plate 1) The excavation was performed to remove <br /> hydrocarbon impacted soil associated with underground fuel storage tanks formerly located at <br /> the subject site <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> On April 17, 1991, six underground (u/g) storage tanks were removed from the project site by <br /> RESNA Industries Inc (RESNA) The u/g tanks consisted of one 550-gal1on diesel tank, two <br /> 2,000-gallon gasoline tanks, one 4,000-gallon gasoline tank, one 10,000-gallon gasoline tank, <br /> and one 350-gallon waste oil tank Soil samples collected from beneath the gasoline and diesel <br /> tanks contained elevated levels of petroleum hydrocarbons Analytical results are summarized <br /> in Table 1 <br /> In October 1991, a RESNA geologist supervised the drilling of one angle and five vertical soil <br /> borings to assess subsurface conditions at the project site Analytical results of collected soil <br /> samples indicated that gasoline impacted soils were limited laterally to a relatively small area <br /> near the former gasoline fuel storage tanks, and that diesel impacted soils existed beneath the <br /> former diesel fuel storage tank to a depth of between 10 5 and 20 5 feet below ground surface <br /> The former gasoline tank pit was backfilled with crushed rock in September 1993 <br /> E XCAV FNL <br />
