Working To Restore Nature
of all soil samples collected at the subject site to date are summarized in Table 1 Laboratory
reports of soil analytical results for samples collected in October 1993 are presented in Appendix
D
1
6.3 Groundwater Gradient
The new wells, MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4 were surveyed and tied into the existing well MW-1
Depth to water measurements were collected prior to development on October 18, and again on
' December 3 and December 10, 1993 The groundwater gradient was determined utilizing the
December 10, 1993 data The hydraulic gradient was 0 002 ft/ft to the west Well MW-1 was
' not used in gradient calculation due to a bent casing
6,4 Laboratory Results - Groundwater
Groundwater samples were collected after development and purging of newly installed
monitoring wells MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, and purging of the previously existing well MW-1
' Groundwater samples were analyzed for BTEX, TPHg and TPHd by Sequoia Analytical Total
extractable petroleum hydrocarbons, reported as non-diesel mix and discrete peaks, were present
' above method detection limits in well MW-3 and MW-4 at 86 µglf and 330 µg/f, respectively.
No gasoline petroleum hydrocarbon analytes were detected at or above method detection limits.
7.0 REMEDIAL INVESTIGATION
' On October 22, 1993, RESNA conducted a one-day soil vapor extraction test (VET) using newly
installed vapor extraction wells VW-1, VW-2, and VW-3 The vapor extraction test was
' conducted to obtain data to determine the feasibility of vapor extraction at this site, to determine
the effective radius of influence; to select the optimum off-gas abatement process, and to develop
' engineering design criteria for the construction of a soil remediation system at the subject site
The scope of work included notification of the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control
District prior to performing the test, performing a VET using three vapor extraction wells,
15004718-031594 FNL 8
