5.2.2 Vapor Extraction Test
RESNA will perform a vapor extraction test following extraction point installation The purpose of
this test will be to evaluate and document the expected rade of influence for each extraction point and
to help finalize system design parameters by determining hydrocarbon concentrations in the air stream
1
The extraction test will utilize a regenerative blower to induce a vacuum on the wells The extraction
flow rate and wellhead pressures will be recorded over the test duration
' Magnahelic gauges will be used to record pressures at each of the wells.
Hydrocarbon vapors generated during the test will be treated using carbon adsorption During the test,
PID readings will be taken from the influent and effluent airstreams of the carbon vessels In addition,
air samples will be taken from each well for laboratory analysis to determine hydrocarbon
concentrations in the air stream
' Followingcompletion p of data collection, the information will be reduced to document the expected
radii of influence and to provide specifications for an appropriate off-gas treatment technology
All project field activities will be conducted in accordance with a site specific Health and Safety Plan
This plan will be developed as part of the preliminary engineering task as detailed below
5.3 Laboratory Analysis
Soil, groundwater, and air samples will be collected and submitted for analysis to a State certified
laboratory under chain-of-custody protocol Up to three soil samples from each bonng/well will be
submitted for analysis of TPHG and BTEX using EPA methods 5030/8015 and 8020 A water
sample, from each well, will also be submitted, under chain-of-custody protocol to a State certified
' laboratory for analysis of TPHG, TPHD and BTEX using EPA methods modified 5030/8015 and
8020 Three air samples will be analyzed for BTEX and TPHG In addition, one air sample will be
analyzed for vapor phase lead.
1
R 042992 TIL 9
