1
MW-3, MW-4, and VW-1 Low levels of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in samples collected
from VW-2 and VW-3
' On October 3, 1995 Clearwater Group, Inc supervised the installation of two soli borings (VW4 and
VW-5) The borings were completed to depths of approximately 40 feet and 50 feet, respectively
Soil samples were collected at depths of 20 and 30 feet from VW-5
Analytical results are summarized in Table 4 Solt boring logs, monitoring well logs, and Vapor well
logs are included in Appendices E, F, and G,.respectively
4_3 Assessment of Groundwater Contamination
In March 1992, RESNA installed groundwater monitoring well MW-1 to a depth of 85 feet using a
hollow stem auger drill ng The well was constructed with 2-inch diameter PVC casing and completed
I as shown on the well log contained m Appendix F The well was monitored, developed and sampled
for TPHg and BTEX
' Toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, and TPHg were detected The well was sampled again in February
1993, and samples were analyzed for TPHg and BTEX The sample contained no detectable
concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons
Three additional groundwater monitoring wells, MW-2, MW-
3 and MW4, were installed in October
1993 The wells were constructed with 4-mch PVC casing to an approximate depth of 85 feet The
well logs are contained in Appendix F The wells were monitored, developed, and sampled for TPH&
TPHd, and BTEX
' TPHd was detected as a non-diesel mux with discrete peaks in samples collected from MW-3 and MW-
4, at concentrations of 86 and 330 parts per billion (ppb), respectively TPHg and BTEX were not
' detected in any groundwater samples collected
Groundwater samples have been collected and analyzed quarterly for TPHg and BTEX since October
' 1993 The purpose of groundwater monitoring was to verify the extent of hydrocarbons in
groundwater, monitor the fluctuations in concentrations of dissolved hydrocarbons in
groundwater, and monitor the depth to groundwater The most recent groundwater monitoring
and sampling event was completed by a Smith Environmental technician on January 9, 1996 A
cumulative record of groundwater monitoring and sampling data is presented in Tables i and 2,
respectively The groundwater gradient on January 9, 1996 is depicted on Figure 3 Copies of
field notes are contained in Appendix A and laboratory reports are included in Appendix B
w W5141\quanIy\4gr--1445 doc 5
SNTN
1
