O. Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Delta Packing Co. Site Investigation Site code: 1347
Dear Mr. Wong,
On April 24, 1998, Foothill Engineering in the presence of the PHS/EHD, drilled and sampled soil
in the immediate area of the now removed 500 gallon UST used by Delta Packing Company. The
following is a report of the finding of this vertical investigation.
SITE HISTORY
The first investigations of the site where performed by Exceltech of Fremont, CA. on 4/10/87. Two
soil borings were made on the east side of each tank to a depth of 45 feet. The sample nearest to the
500 gallon tank indicated a concentration of 0.78 mg/kg of Xylene, and Volatile Hydrocarbons of 9.0
mg/kg. All other samples were below detection limits.
The tanks were removed by Jim Thorpe Oil on 1/18/90, under the direction of PHS/EHD. The under
tank samples were taken by FGL Environmental at a depth of 2' to 4'below the bottom of the tanks
and analyzed for TPHg and BETX. The sample from under the 500 gallon UST produced very low
levels of TPHg and BETX(see attached recap sheet). A shallow domestic well is located about 25'
from the 500 gallon UST. No odor or taste of gasoline are present in the well water.
REFOR i OF FINDINGS
Soil Boring
The soil boring was done by Spectrum Exploration with a CME 55 Drill Rig. A six inch auger with
split spoon sampler was used to retrieve standard BX soil tube sample at five intervals to a depth of
50 feet. Samples were retrieved, capped with Teflon and sealed with duct tape. Each set of samples
was checked for gasoline odor by nose and hydrocarbon venting by PID meter. All samples were
negative by both field analysis methods. Samples were transported under ice with a chain of custody
to Sherwood Labs for analysis. Location map of the soil boring site is attached.
Sample Analysis
The samples from vertical depths of 5', 10', 15', 20', and 25', were analyzed by EPA method 8020 and
EPA method 5030/8015. Samples retrieved from depths of 30'to 50'were placed on hold pending
1
