Mr. Kenneth Earnest
Ultramar Inc.
November 5, 1993
Page 3
per billion (ppb) and TPH as gasoline at a concentration of 68 ppb. Monitoring wells MW-1 and
MW-2 did not contain concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons with the exception of xylenes at 1.1
and 2.6 ppb, respectively.
Monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 were resampled on September 8, 1993. Analytical test
results indicate that petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected with the exception of xylenes in the
samples collected from monitoring wells MW-2 and MW-3, at concentrations of 0.97 and 0.68 ppb,
respectively.
Analytical results for the ground water samples are summarized in Table 3. Analytical laboratory
reports for ground water samples collected on August 27 and 31, 1993, are included in Enclosure C,
and analytical laboratory reports for ground water samples collected on September 8, 1993, are
included in Enclosure F.
Discussion
Analytical test results indicate that relatively low concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons are
present in soil beneath the west pump island at depths of approximately 26 and 41 feet_ Ground
water samples collected from the monitoring wells on August 27 and 31, 1993, and
September 8, 1993, contained relatively low concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons. Since only
relatively low concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in two of the soil samples,
and none of the soil samples within 25 feet of the ground water table contained detectable
concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons, it appears that the petroleum hydrocarbons in ground
water may have potentially migrated from an off-site source.
Remarks/Signatures
The interpretations contained in this report represent our professional opinions, and are based in part,
on information supplied by the client. These opinions are based on currently available information
and are arrived at in accordance with currently accepted hydrogeologic and engineering practices at
this time and location. Other than this, no warranty is implied or intended.
