COPY
Installation of Proposed Ground Water Monitoring Wells
1. We maintain that an additional monitoring well be installed near'
-the southeast corner, of the Kettleman ane-Hutchins Street
intersection. The zone of capture for- the recovery well (s)
installed at this site must be able to capture the entire area
defined by the "zero line". At the savie time, it is unacceptable to ,
capture a large amount of water from a tside the plume. We,
therefore, request that the plume be d fined as accurately as
possible so a reliable and effective r medial system can be
implemented.
3. ARCO' s request to sample only W--2B (not W-2 and W-2B) on a
monthly basis is acceptable if, in addition to BTX&E, TPH analysis is
performed.
4. Replacing MW-1 with a new monitoring well is important for
correlating data between wells. The proposed depth and screened
interval of this well is the same as the other proposed monitoring
wells ( MW-2 and MW-3 screened from approximately 40 to 70 feet below
the surface) .
These items shall be. addressed in the PSA report to be submitted to
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health
Division and the Regional Water Quality Control Board of concurrent
review no later than October 9, 1989.
Prior to continued field investigative work, the enclosed local
permitting deficiencies shall be submitted.
If you have any questions, please contact Diane M. Hinson of my Staff
at (209) 468-3450.
Jogi Khanna, M.
