RCO's request was scheduled for action
at the August 7, 1990 District Board meeting. However, the District failed to act on ARCO's
request during the August 7 meeting. The District has rescheduled ARCO's request for its
September 4, 1990 District Board meeting. The District did not make a. decision at the
September 4 meeting. ARCO's request will be considered again at the October 11, 1990 Board
meeting. At that Board meeting, the District's Engineer is to provide a recommendation to the
Board.
Obviously, we are concerned that the District will cot tinue to postpone their decision. In light
of the fact that ARCO is pursuing the cleanup of ARCO Station 434 under direction of the
California Regional Water Quality Control Board (Regional Board), we believe it would be
appropriate for the Regional Board to write a letter to the District supporting ARCO's request.
a The letter should-be-sent to: - - - - - -
Ms. Mabel Hall
General Manager
Woodbridge Irrigation District
1877 North Sacramento Road
Woodbridge, California 95258
Hopefully this will expedite the District's decision. ARCO is in the process of evaluating
catalytic oxidizer vapor treatment units for remediate n of the hydrocarbon-affected soil at the
site. It is expected that a treatment unit will be installed and permitted within 3 months. ARCO
is also installinZ dedicated sample pumps in all of the monitoring wells associated with Station
434 _The pumps will be installed in early September 1990.
