Kettleman Lane,
Lodi, California
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
On behalf of ARCO Petroleum Products Company (ARCO), Brown and Caldwell (BC) has
prepared this request for closure status in regard to environmental activities associated with
the subject site (Site). This request for sitelosure is presented in accordance with the State
of California, Central Valley Regional Watt
Quality Control Board's (Board) Tri-Regional
of California, Central Valley Regional Watt
Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of Underground
Tank Sites, Appendix B. Requests for Closure, March 1, 1994. The Board's Case Closure
Checklist is included as Exhibit A.
Site Description and History
The Site is located at the northwest corner of Kettleman Lane and Hutchins Street, in Lodi,
California (Figure 1). A gasoline service station currently operates at the Site.
On December 23, 1986, an in-tank leak detector at ARCO Service Station 434, located at 501
Kettleman Lane in Lodi, California, indicated a product loss. Subsequent investigation by
ARCO identified a loss that resulted from a leak in the product line leading from the unleaded
gasoline underground storage tank to the dispenser. The leaking pipe was replaced. ARCO
inventory control data for November and December 1986 showed a total inventory loss of
approximately 786 gallons of unleaded gasoline. The subsequent investigation, however,
indicated that a larger volume of gasoline was lost, and that the release occurred over a longer
period of time. A Tank and Piping Leakage Report and a Report of Spillage/Product Loss are
included as Exhibit B.
This report was prepared in accordance with the standards of the environmental consulting industry at the time it was
prepared. It should not be relied upon by parties other than those for whom it was prepared, and then only to the
extent of the scope of work which was authorized This report does not guarantee that no additional environmental
contamination beyond that described in this report exists at the site.
Environmental Engineering And Consulting-A nafytical Services 33821C0R1LESPICL0SURE.D0C
9616 MICRON AvENUE, SUITE 600, SACRAMENTO, CA 95827-2627
(916) 444-0123 FAX (916) 856-5277
