tF' '
BROWN (" AND
C A L D W E L L
March 16, 1995
Mr Kyle Christie
ARCO Products Company
2155 South Bascom Avenue, Suite 202
Campbell, California 95008 017-2001-0111
Subject- Report for the Replacement of Monitoring Well W-2,
ARCO Facility 434, Lodi, California
Dear Mr. Christie:
The replacement of monitoring well W-2 was completed on December 29, 1994 at ARCO facility
434, located at 501 Kettleman Land, Lodi, California. Figure 1 presents the location of well
• W-2. The 2-mch diameter polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cased monitoring well was destroyed
because of an obstruction within the well at approximately 58 feet below ground surface (bgs)
and replaced with a 4-mch diameter PVC cased well by Turner Explorations (California C-57
License Number 602720) of Rancho Cordova, California. Procedures for the destruction and
replacement of the well followed procedures described in the work plan for the project, dated
March 22, 1994. The work plan was reviewed and approved by San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division.
Monitoring Well Construction The final well construction of the monitoring well included 20
feet of 0.020 slotted schedule 40 casing and 59 feet of blank schedule 40 casing. The total depth
of the well is approximately 81 feet. A 24-foot sand pack extends from the bottom of the
borehole to approximately 57 feet bgs. A 3-foot bentonite seal separates a cement grout, which
extends to the surface, and the sand pack.
Stockpiled soil was classified for disposal by Dillard Environmental Services (Dillard) of Byron,
California and then transported from the facility by Dillard to BFI Landfill, a Class-III landfill,
in Livermore, California.
This report was prepared in accordance with the standards of the environmental consulting industry at the time it was
prepared It should not be relied upon by parties other than those for whom it was prepared, and then only to the extent
of the scope of work which was authorized.
